I was just working on a project where I setup the ACES workflow as usual: Clip, then Unicolor mapping from camera to AP1/ACEScct, then ColorGrade, then ACES ODT to map to Rec709. I noticed that if I make adjustments in the bands the highlights and whites largely seem to affect the same values in the waveform. I am assuming that the ranges that divide the bands 'highlight' and 'white' are calibrated more to a log color space rather than the AP1 color space and thus not sitting right. Same with the softclip roll-off. Is there a fix for that or a way to have the bands react properly? If I replace the ACES Unicolor and ODT with just a camera LUT everything works as…

BlueFix_Highlight_ACES.glsl Hi everyone! We've contacted Paul Dore to ask for permission so we can adapt his GLSL code to Mistika's. Now, with the GLSL file attached in this file, you can easily fix the Blue Highlight Artefact when moving from AP0 Gamut to Ap1 Gamut. Here you can see the before/after: Thanks and kudos to Paul Dore for this awesome code. Much appreciated. I hope you find it useful! Cheers, Cristóbal

Is there a way to to tell Mistika what layer should be selected when going from shot to shot in the Color Grade Interface? It would be nice if I had the following options to choose from 1 - First Vector 2 - Last Vector 3 - Same Vector (if for instance Vector layer 3 is selected it keeps at the same level while switching shots) 4 - Last Selected Vector

Just sharing some insights from a support ticket we resolved. On the last project I was working with a standard scene referred ACES workflow, RED Raw footage, Unicolor and ODT. As explained in most tutorials I added the ODT at the top of the stack. That turned out to have some unforeseen consequences. I'm losing the ODT in some storyboard functions, and particularly in the gang solo. I also lose the ODT when in the vector paint. After debugging we determined that neither was a bug. The story board/gang solo is by design. The vector paint is turned into a feature request. But the main take away, and reasons for this post, is that when you work with ACES it a…

The client decided to go in a different direction on the color of a project and we're re-doing the color as a result. One challenge is that there are a few clips that had skin cleanup with vector paint that I'd rather not re-do if possible. I created a new project, opened the old .env file and copied selected parts of the timeline onto the new timeline. Including the paint vector nodes. But it doesn't look like any of the actual strokes came over. Are they not attached to the node directly? I see that there is a load/save file. So I thought maybe I need to go to the old project and save each paint vector into a file? But unfortunately if open the old proje…

Hi everyone! We've created an environment for testing your system performance capabilities. Basically, it contains a 4 seconds video with 80 layers of color correction created. There, you can remove layers until real-time playback is obtained or sound synchronization is achieved. You guys can find the environment attached in this post. It is a 1920x1080 and 24 fps timeline. The video file which you have to relink can be found here. This is how the environment looks like: It would be great if you can share with us your results, describing your system specifications and the maximum playback you obtain. This way, we can share useful informat…

Since my current setup is getting annoyingly slow I am looking to buy or build a new machine around Mistika Boutique. The biggest issue I have is the fact that I love to work within MacOs and don't like the messy Windows interface. On the other hand I would have no problems building a Window machine because it save's me 50% of the total price compared to a new Mac Pro. My questions are: The MacPro Route - How will the support be for the new Mac Pro, since it is using a AMD GPU (Vega II with 32GB looks very promising) And wil the 'Afterburner' card be supported in the future? Since I got the feeling that Mistika is more Window's focused? The Wi…

Hi guys! It is planned in future versions to be added a Display Filter which will enable an overlay safe title area. You can check it in the following screenshot: It is based on image percentage, which means it will be adapted according to the resolution. I have attached it in this ticket for you guys to check it! You have to place it on SGO AppData > shared > displater_filters folder. Next time you open Mistika it should be available. We hope you like it! Cheers, Cristóbal _MTK_SafeArea-90%-95%.dfilt

I currently use two GeForce RTX 2080TI cards but will be testing a Quadro RTX 6000 as a possible upgrade. This is largely based on this SGO support article https://support.sgo.es/support/solutions/articles/1000247927-nvidia-quadro-or-geforce- is there any documentation that is available that goes deeper into the bus management of the two cards. In almost all online content the two cards are considered largely identical in architecture and differences are said to be minor. This article stands out it saying the Quadro cards are far superior. I would love to find out more. Is there NVidia developer manuals or anything like that? Couldn’t find anything via Goog…

I have a project that has a mix of footage with 5K, UHD, and HD resolution. This is not about making a single timeline and rendering, as in a finished edit. I know how that works with framing nodes. I'm only using Mistika for a beauty grade. Each clip has to be rendered out in it's original resolution to be re-conformed in Premiere for the final assembly. So the 5K clips need to be rendered in 5K, the UHD clips in UHD, and HD clips in HD. Ideally without any intermediary scaling to maintain best quality. At the moment I setup three different projects with different configs. But that's a lot of overhead switching back and forth, and matching grades between p…

I think I am totally blind, since I am sure there must be function somewhere in Mistika. ? But is there a easy way to save a screen-grab from the current active frame? (without going through the output settings) Or even better map this to a button on the Tangent Elements? Very often I have to email screen-grabs to the DoP or Director for approval, so it would be really nice if there was as blazing fast solution.

Is there an easy way to read the color of a pixel. I'm using some of the BorisFX OFX plugins and the pixel chooser requires entry of a color value. It has the tree separate RGB values, but no automated color picker like other OFX UIs offer. So I have to determine the RGB values. I've had success putting a color grade node on top of OFX, using the 'Set Color' tab in the visual editor, going to 'Pick Color'. That reads out the RGB hex values. The OFX plugin however needs the float RGB values, so I have to use a calculate to convert hex to float. Workable, but hoping there's a faster way.

I ran into an issue yesterday, and none of the operators seemed to do what I needed. Here's the scenario: I'm keying a person in front of a textured background. The skin and background are very similar, so the key has to be just right. On the very edge of the frame the exposure dropped and there was some key noise. So what I was hoping is to combine a key and a shape in an 'OR' operation. The key would catch 99% of the background, and I would override the key on the frame edge with a shape. However, I needed the shape to include that area, not eliminate it. Kind of an inverse garbage matte. I've run into that scenario several times when I have super tight keys, where…

Is there a fast way to add a mask to OFX, I know I can create a matte and link it to a external key into the OFX node. I would be super happy if I could instantly use the the Shapes Tab to create a mask on that node and lessen the OFX effect on that spot. (so I don't have to add extra nodes to the layer stack) This would make my workflow somewhat quicker.

I am trying to figure out the best practice for transforming a TV Commercial graded for 709 broadcast to online specs sRGB 2.2 I end up with a different result if I compare the sRGB version on a sRGB corrected display vs the Rec709 version on a Rec709 display. If I use the Unicolor to make the transform see image for settings. sRGB Version Rec709 Version The rec709 version is super close on the sRGB display to the version of the Rec709 Display. While if I make a export from a rec709 grade on Resolve I always need to apply a Color Transformation node to transform the gamma to make it look the same. D…

So a regular scenario I encounter while working on grades for commercial / digital content for an agency: Step 1: You grade a few select clips for review of color direction. Step 2: Client provides feedback, additional changes are made, this repeats a few times Step 3: Client decides that they liked the 2nd version more than 3 or 4 after all. Step 4: Everything gets graded with the 2nd version of color How do you manage all these different grading versions so you can easily go back to a previous version and apply it, or use it as the base for a new version? In Resolve I would duplicate the entire timeline and save it as Revision X. Also, on every cli…

I must be missing something obvious, but can't find it in the manual or the tutorials. Is there a way to place the playhead at the mouse cursor? I see a large variety of shuttle commands to place the playhead, as well as setting playhead at specific TC. But when I click with the cursor it sets a cursor at the location, doesn't move the playhead. And any variation of Cmd/Shift/Opt doesn't seem to work either. Thanks, Jan

Is there any hack (or future feature) to flip the time space/visual editor arrangement? For the most part I use Mistika in single monitor mode, since I have my primary monitor centered and the second one at an angle to the side. That's impractical with the visual editor being on the secondary display. Luckily the switch between time space and visual editor is pretty fast, so going back and forth is not too bad, and if you setup your stacks right you don't have to switch too often. But there are times where it would be nice to work with both monitors. But I would need the visual editor on the left and time space on the right. An additional checkbox in mConfig cou…

Since I am migrating to Mistika I am testing all best practice stuff. For a lot of projects I have to do one Master 'Color Grade' of a TV Commercial and a lot of cutdowns for social media. So what I like to do is having one 16-9 Master in 1920x1080 and next to it the same commercial in portrait reframed to 9-16 in 1080x1920. Right now if I resize and reframe I have problems defining a 1080x1920 setup with corresponding export setting. Is there a SGO insight about this I have missed? ?

Right now I am setting up a Tangent Element Panel, which feels super useful in Mistika. From the documentation I read that for the best setup I need two more Bt Panels. My question is if I also get a second Kb panel can I also map this panel? Or with how many panels can I expand en keep on mapping? ( so I can build my own custom Arc ? )
