cameratraveler27
I recently purchased the latest version of Mistika VR (Compile Time: Apr 10 2018 09:46:42 Build: 8.8.6) and can't find the brand new parallax calibration preset "Use Insta360Pro Calibration" as a option in the STITCH pull down menu - yet it's clearly shown to be a new feature in this tutorial (see 2:24 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4zK5AJFxgg&t=183s ) What am I doing wrong? Was it removed? How can find this option?
dglozano@gmail.com
That video shows an upcoming feature that will be available in v8.8.7. That version should be released soon, as Miguel said in this post what you you can do now as a workaround is to open that shot in Insta360 studio, calibrate and save the project. Then load that project in MistikaVR through the “Import Stitch” option. Cheers!
cameratraveler27
Thank you. Yeah I have already tried that work around as well with the recalibrated Insta360 data and, while it helped in some ways, I'm still getting inconsistent vertical parallax issues on some but not all of the horizon at infinity. Manually finessing the vertical balance and ALL of the other controls hasn't allowed me to remove the vertical parallax on a few of the lens (it was shot on the Insta360 Pro). I have to think that the calibration data I'm giving Mistika isn't accurate and matching up to the footage. Perhaps it's because the camera wasn't stationary. I attached the camera to a moving bike so both me and the bike were always extremely close to the camera so when I used the method you mention above the data may have been thrown off with that being the case. Also because it is attached to a bike the scene is always changing a little bit as well as the reality that the camera had a very minor amount of horizontal sway back and fourth due to natural movement. Could any of those things be throwing off the calibration? If so what can I do after the fact to give it the correct calibration data it needs? (see image for the vertical parallax issue on only part of the image)
cameratraveler27
So I just figured it out. I had bad calibration data. I just did a new calibration and double checked my level and shot in a empty parking and took that data and applied it to my other footage and it stitched together fine. Hopefully the same calibration data will work on my other shots that have objects a few meters from the camera as well.
