Use 10.6 only for new projects, do not open old projects in 10.6

After filing a bug report, it appears that 10.6 does not upgrade or migrate the vrenv files to the new file format.

all new functions (i.e. auto calibrate or CDL grade) only work on fresh files/projects, and will crash/destroy older projects.
