What is the difference between "yaw balance" and "convergence" on a stereo vr stitch?

They seem to do the same thing, and the tutorials don't explain the difference or when to use one or the other. Is there some documentation of the distinction?

 

How do horizontal balance and vertical balance play into this? Is there a simple order of which of these adjustments to do first and how to set them?
